MEROTAI, SABAH, MALAYSIA November 24, 2025 – Pakatan Harapan (PH) candidate for the Merotai state seat (DUN Merotai), Datuk Ruji Ubi, today expressed deep emotion after receiving heartfelt words of encouragement and complete confidence from Home Minister YB Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail.
In a statement posted on his social media page, Datuk Ruji shared that Saifuddin Nasution is well acquainted with his career journey from the very beginning, including critical moments when he had to resolve community issues all the way up to the highest levels of government.
“The trust expressed by YB DSP Saifuddin Nasution truly touched my heart. He reminded me of the experience and skills I built over 30 years of service, particularly as Secretary-General of the Ministry of Home Affairs,” wrote Datuk Ruji.
The former top civil servant at the Home Ministry stressed that all those years of experience are not merely titles but a heavy responsibility he is ready to shoulder as a direct bridge connecting the people of Merotai to the federal level.
“I am prepared to be the bridge that links the voices of the people straight to the federal government. That is my commitment,” he affirmed.
Datuk Ruji also extended his profound gratitude to Saifuddin Nasution for the encouragement and confidence shown, describing it as a “tremendous boost” that strengthens his resolve to continue serving with full integrity and dedication.
The open endorsement from a senior PH Cabinet minister is seen as a strong signal of the top leadership’s confidence in Datuk Ruji Ubi’s ability to capture the Merotai state seat in the fast-approaching Sabah state election.
Merotai, a constituency with a majority Bumiputera Muslim and Malay population, is expected to witness a fierce contest. The backing of a high-profile federal figure like Saifuddin Nasution is regarded as a major boost to Datuk Ruji Ubi’s campaign.
